Background: The prevalence of chronic ankle instability is crucial to be estimated in different populations. The identification of functional ankle instability questionnaire is recommended to identify chronic ankle instability patients. However, it was developed in English that limiting its usage in non-English speaking populations. Purposes: This study aimed to examine psychometrics of the identification of functional ankle instability questionnaire after its translation into Arabic and to calculate the prevalence of chronic ankle instability in Egyptian college-aged students. Methods: The original version of the questionnaire was translated into the Arabic language. Participants (n= 386) participated in the study. Eighty-six participants filled in the Arabic version of the identification of functional ankle instability questionnaire and the Arabic version of the lower extremity functional scale for both ankles. Psychometrics including validity and reliability were investigated.Three hundred participants were surveyed to determine their ankle stability status. Results: The Arabic version of the identification of functional ankle instability had a moderate negative correlation with the lower extremity functional scale (-0.59, p < 0.001) and a strong positive correlation with ankle status classification (0.84, p< 0.001). The intra-class correlation coefficient was 0.98. The Cronbachs alpha coefficient was 0.76. The percentage of affected students was 55%
