This thesis is concerned with the quantitative determination of some prodrugs. In this thesis, two prodrugs (tedizolid phosphate and acemetacin) were studied separately as targeted analytes. The first prodrug, tedizolid phosphate, is an antibiotic that is bio-activated to tedizolid by phosphatase enzymes. The second drug, acemetacin, is an analgesic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is bio-activated to indomethacin by liver enzymes. The aim of this work was to develop different analytical methods which are characterized by simplicity, accuracy and appropriate degree of sensitivity for the analysis of the above-mentioned prodrugs in their powdered form, in the presence of dosage-form excipients, active metabolites and possible degradation products. Two stability-indicating chromatographic methods, simple fluorimetric and ion selective electrode based potentiometric methods were developed for the sensitive analysis of tedizolid phosphate.Tedizolid was confirmed to be the major degradant of tedizolid phosphate obtained by simple neutral degradation of the parent drug. Acemetacin was assayed by different chromatographic, fluorimetric and electrochemical (voltammetry and ion selective electrode) methods
