Aim: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of deepithelialized connective tissue graft and modified coronally advanced flap compared to the use of subepithelial connective tissue graft and modified coronally advanced tunneling technique in the treatment of RT2 recession in term of the papillary height. Subjects and methods: Twenty-four patients with RT2 gingival recession in anterior or premolar teeth were randomly allocated to either the test group (DGG) or the control group (SCTG). All the recipient sites were prepared by performing MCAT. Clinical parameters (distance between the tip of the papillae and the contact point, recession depth, recession width, keratinized tissue width, keratinized tissue thickness and CAL were assessed on the baseline, 3,6 and 9months after the surgery. Pain was evaluated for the first 7 days after the procedure and patient satisfaction and root coverage esthetic score were evaluated after 9 months Results: there was a statistically significant gain in papillary heigh after 9 months in the DGG group compared to the SCTG group; the mean change in the distance between the tip of the papilla to the contact point after 9 months was 0.63 ± 1.13 in the SCTG group and 1.27 ± 0.93 in the test group. there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in term of the other clinical parameters except for the Keratinized tissue thickness as DGG significantly increased the keratinized tissue thickness at 9 months compared to the SCTG. Both techniques were effective in treatment of RT2 gingival recession
