Background: Malignant germ cell tumors (MGCTs) account for 3.5 % of all pediatric cancers These Patients typically have a bimodal age distribution, with a first peak during infancy and a second after the onset of puberty. GCTs are the most common malignant ovarian tumor in females aged <20 years. Sacrococcygeal and retroperitoneal abdominal tumors often achieve a large size prior to the onset of symptoms and the rate of metastases in these tumors is over 50% Methods: Patients with pediatric germ cell tumors presenting to children{u2019}s cancer hospital from 1st of January 2008 to end of June 2011 and those presenting to NCI and CCHE from end of June 2011 to end of December 2012. Patients underwent stratification according to risk into low, intermediate and high risk, all patients enrolled in this study will be analyzed for clinicopathologic features. Results: Out of 131 cases surgically explored only 26 cases had re exploration 8 cases explored for residual disease 9 cases for remote recurrence or metastatic disease and the other 9 cases for other complications. Out of 131 cases surgically managed only 12 cases had postoperative complications. Patients with low risk kept under follow up after surgery, out of those of low risk group (48 patients) only 8 patients (16.5%) shifted to intermediate risk chemotherapy
