Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Entomology Summary: DNA was isolated from females{u2019} mosquitoes and vipers{u2019} tissue samples. Hepatozoon detection and identification was confirmed by blood smear examination as well as sequencing of the PCR product using conventional PCR. Homology search of Hepatozoon PCR amplified fragment (901 bp) revealed DNA similarities from 97% to 99% with those found on GenBank database. In this study, biological studies were performed to determine the effect of Hepatozoon on some biological parameters of the mosquito Culex pipiens complex such as longevity, mortality and reproductive capacity
