Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Metallurgical Engineering Summary: In this research study , welding of two alloys 2024 and 7075 was done by TIG , FSW and MIG - FSW to get high quality welds . It was found that no hot cracks were observed when welding of alloy 2024 started at 10 mm from edge of the strip . Preheating of 7075 reduced the length of the cracks significantly . Postweld heat treatment increased joints efficiency to 82% of the tensile strength of base material
