This study was designed to clarify the clinicopathological effect of ginger, garlic and their mix in comparison to the widely used hypoglycemic drug 2metformin3 on streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced diabetic rats. For this purpose, 80 male Albino rats fed well balanced diet were used and were divided randomly into 10 groups. group (1); non-diabetic non-treated rats, group (2); streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetes, group (3); non-diabetic treated with ginger, group (4); non-diabetic treated with garlic, group (5); non-diabetic treated with ginger and garlic mix, group (6); diabetic treated with ginger, group (7); diabetic treated with garlic, group (8); diabetic treated with ginger and garlic mix, group (9); non-diabetic treated with metformin and group (10); diabetic treated with metformin. Blood samples were collected at 0, 14th, 28th, 42nd days of treatments, and samples were directed to hematological and biochemical analysis. At the end of the experiment, all rats were anaesthetized and decapitated, their liver, kidney and pancreas were collected for histopathological examination. Results of diabetic control group revealed presence of microcytic hypochromic anemia, neutrophilic leukocytosis, elevated HbA1c, hyperglycemia, liver and kidney functions impairment in association with reduction in anti-oxidant enzymes activity
