Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Computers and Information - Department of Information Systems Summary: In an IT organization, whenever a new incoming project is received, there may be some similar projects. Traditionally, those similar projects are identified manually according to the developer experience. Identification of the similar projects has many benefits such as enhancing project estimates (time, cost and resources). Also, software reuse is one of the benefits of software projects similarity. It is recommended to use a systematic methodology to identify the similar software projects. The most similar projects will be selected, so some artifacts of the projects can be investigated such as analysis, design, code components, and even test cases. In this research, we propose a framework called 2Four-phase similarity framework (FPSF)3 to measure the similarity between software projects according to their requirements. It is recommended to measure the similarity between software projects in earlier stages to gain the most benefits by inspecting the already completed projects artifacts. The main purpose of the framework is quantifying the similarity degree between software projects according to their requirements
