Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Physics Summary: This study aimed at investigating the radiological hazard of environmental rock and soil samples used as building materials in Yemen. The activity concentrations of ²²⁶Ra,²³²Th and ⁴{u⁰⁰B⁰}K in the collected samples were determined using high-resolution gamma spectrometry. The radium equivalent, external hazard, internal hazard, representative level, absorbed dose rate and the annual effective dose were also estimated. The obtained data could be considered beside its scientific value data baseline for drawing a radiological map of Yafea town in Yemen. Further investigations of the samples have been performed using X-ray fluorescence and remarkable concentrations of both Fe, Al and Ti have been observed
