Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry
Different analytical techniques, namely; chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, chemometry and electrochemical were adopted for determination of some drugs formulated in locally acting pharmaceutical preparations. these drugs are gatifloxacin, ofloxacin, dexamethasone sodium phosphate, prednisolone acetate, fluorometholone and tetrahydrozoline HCl. Evaluation of analytical methods greenness is attention grasping for most method developers. One of the latest used greenness valuation tools for analytical techniques is the analytical eco-scale, which is a semi-quantitative tool to evaluate and compare analytical methods based on their conformity with green chemistry principles. Greenness of all the developed methods has been assessed using Eco-scale tool. All of the presented methods have been validated according to the ICH- guidelines. Direct quantification of drugs in biological fluids without sample pre-treatment or extraction is the target approach during method development and optimization. Electrochemical ion selective electrode method was applied for direct determination of tetrahydrozoline HCl in spiked rabbit aqueous humor
