Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Orthopedic Surgery Summary: Fractures of the distal tibia are represented by 7{u2013}10% of all tibial fractures. Several methods of treatment are implemented including non-operative treatment, external fixation, intramedullary nailing and internal fixation with traditional implant (standard screws and plates). However, each of these treatment options is associated with certain challenges. Our study considered the treatment of distal tibial fractures with closed reduction and MIPPO technique, to simplify operative procedure and decrease wound size, obtain rigid internal fixation and guarantee early function exercises of ankle joint. Patients and methods: In this study we evaluated 20 patients treated in EL- Kasr EL-Aieny teaching hospital (cairo university) between May 2017 {u2013} May 2018 diagnosed with distal tibial fractures. This study evaluates the treatment of distal tibial fractures with anatomical distal tibial locked plate. There were 12 males and 8 females of mean age 40.25 years (20-60). The mean follow-up period was 4.55 month (ranging from 3 to 6 month). Results: All patients were fully weight bearing at 16 weeks showing radiological union, except 2 patients had full weight bearing after 22 weeks. There were no cases of failures of fixation, or rotational misalignment. Three of our patients had skin infection, and treated by using specific antibiotics
