Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry Summary: This work is concerned with development analytical methods of some drugs affecting cardiovascular system; Metolazone (MET) in its pure form in presence of its degradation productsor with co-formulated drugs namely ; Spironolactone (SPR), Losartan (LOS) and Ramipril (RAM) in presence of their degradation products. In this thesis; different analytical techniques were adopted, namely, chromatographic methods and spectroscopic including chemometric and spectrofluorimetric methodsfor the determination of mentioned compounds in their drug substances and drug products. Also, kinetic behavior of Metolazone (MET) was performed to provide an insight about its purity and stability using thermal techniques. The thesis includes five parts: In part I; General introduction and literature review of the studied drugs were described. In part II; Stability studies for MET and SPR were developed and proposal pathways of their degradation products were provided followed by in-silico toxicity evaluation of degradation products. In part III; Different stability indicating chromatographic methods were developed for determination of MET alone or in presence of other co-formulated drugs in pure form andmarketed drug products in presence of their degradation products. Part IV; Different spectrophotometric methods were developed for determination of MET in presence of other co-formulated drugs in pure form and marketed drug products and / or their degradation products. Part V;Simple and rapid thermal methods were developed for study of the thermal behavior and purityof MET
