High blood pressure remains a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide; risk factors for developing hypertension divided to non modifiable (age, gender, inherited risks), and modifiable (food therapy, losing weight, getting regular exercise, quitting smoking as well managing stress). Studying lifestyle pattern of population is required for controlling and prevention of hypertension complications. The current study was carried out to assess lifestyle patterns of patients newly diagnosed with hypertension at Cairo university hospitals. A stratified sample of 51 male and 54 female adult patients developed hypertension (stage I and stage II), with age ranged between 28 to 65 years old. The study was conducted at the outpatient clinic at Elmanial university hospital - Cairo. For the purpose of this study, an interviewing questionnaire of lifestyle pattern was developed and utilized by the investigator. A descriptive correlation research design was utilized to achieve the aim of the present study. The current study showed that all the newly diagnosed patients were developed stage I hypertension, 66% of them were obese, most of them did not follow healthy dietary pattern that there was significant difference between total body weight subscales, total sport score, total smoking score, total medication score of the respondents and the stages of hypertension
