Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Agriculture - Department of Entomology and Pesticides Summary: The population suppression success of mediterranean fruit fly, ceratitis capitata (Wied.) using sterile technique (SIT) depends mainly upon : the release of male only, ability of sterilized males to compete with wild males in mating with wild females and discrimination of released male flies from the wild population. the effect of gamma irradiation doses on the male sterility was evaluated, to determine the level of induced sterility for achieving the balance between sterility and mating competitiveness.
