تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى إبراز أحد أهم مقومات الأصالة لأناشيد فرجيليوس الرعوية، وهو توظيفه للمحسنات البديعية والصور البيانية في رسم صورة رائعة للريف الإيطالي، توضح هذه الصورة أحوال الرعاة الذين صودرت أراضيهم بسبب الحرب الأهلية، وسعادة رعاة آخرين الذين لم تُصادر أراضيهم، والنماء الذين ينتظر الريف الإيطالي بمولد طفل إلهي سيعيد مولده السلام إلى كل ربوع العالم، وكل ذلك من الموضوعات التي لا أثر لها عند سابقه الشاعر الإغريقي ثيوكريتوس.
وهكذا فإن الدراسة تتناول بالتفصيل المحسنات البديعية اللفظية والمعنوية في هذه الأناشيد الرعوية، وكذلك الصور البيانية، خاصة وأن الشعراء الرومان كانوا يستخدمون أسماء الكثير من النباتات والأشجار بشكل مجازي للتعبير عن شئون اجتماعية وسياسية، هذا علاوة على الرمز الفلسفي الذي ينتشر بين جنبات الديوان، وخاصة الفلسفة الإبيقورية.

This study aims to highlight one of the most important elements of originality for Vergil’s pastoral chants (Eclogues), which is clear in his use of Rhetorical Devices and Figures of speech to draw a wonderful picture for the Italian countryside. He portrayed how the Italian countryside flourished through the birth of a divine child, as his birth will restore peace to all parts of the world. We can say that all these topics are original, and have no effect on Theocritus.
Thus, the study deals in detail with the Rhetorical Devices in these pastoral songs, as well as the Figures of speech, especially since the Roman poets used the names of many plants and trees figuratively to express social and political affairs, in addition to the philosophical symbols that spreads throughout the collection of poems, especially the Epicurean philosophy
