لعل أحد أهم أسباب زيادة التقارب التركي الصومالي تلك الأزمة التي مرت بها الصومال عام 2011م، حيث أثبتت زيارة الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان للصومال في تلك الفترة مدى اهتمام تركيا بهذا البلد، ومن ثم زادت المساعدات التركية أكثر بعد تلك الأزمة.
هذا بالإضافة إلى أن افتتاح أكبر سفارة تركية بمقديشيو في الصومال عام 2015م أدى إلى تعزيز العلاقات التركية الصومالية، كما قامت تركيا بافتتاح أكبر قاعدة عسكرية لها في الخارج بالصومال عام 2017م معلنةً رغبتها في تدريب الجيش الصومالي، ومساعدته في مكافحة الإرهاب وبخاصة جماعة الشباب المجاهدين.
وبالتالي تتضمن الدراسة تحليل السياسات المتبعة من قبل تركيا تجاه الصومال، والتي تقع في إطار استراتيجية القوة الناعمة، وتوضيح مدى تأثير تلك السياسات على الصومال من الناحية التنموية والعسكرية والسياسية والاقتصادية، كما تتناول الدراسة الأسباب والدوافع وراء الاهتمام التركي بالصومال، وأهداف تركيا من بناء القاعدة العسكرية الأكبر لها خارج الأراضي التركية بالصومال.
كما ستقوم الدراسة بسرد أهم المحطات التاريخية الفارقة في العلاقات التركية الصومالية، والمحددات الداخلية والخارجية للدور التركي في الصومال، بالإضافة إلى استعراض أبعاد الدور التركي المختلفة في الصومال كالبعد الاقتصادي والعسكري والأمني والسياسي والدبلوماسي، وتوضيح طبيعة المساعدات المختلفة التي تقدمها تركيا للصومال، كما ستحدد الدراسة الفرص والتحديات التي تواجه تركيا في الصومال، علاوةً على ذلك تحديد نقاط القوة والضعف في العلاقات بين الدولتين، هذا فضلًا عن تكوين رؤية مستقبلية للعلاقات التركية الصومالية.

Perhaps one of the most important reasons for the increase in Turkish-Somali rapprochement is the crisis that Somalia went through in 2011 AD, when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Somalia during that period demonstrated the extent of Turkey's interest in this country, and then Turkish aid increased even more after that crisis.
This is in addition to the opening of the largest Turkish embassy in Mogadishu in Somalia in 2015 AD, which led to the strengthening of Turkish-Somali relations. Turkey also opened its largest military base abroad in Somalia in 2017 AD, announcing its desire to train the Somali army and assist it in combating terrorism, especially the Mujahideen Youth Group.
Thus, the study includes an analysis of the policies pursued by Turkey towards Somalia, which fall within the framework of the soft power strategy, and an explanation of the extent of the impact of those policies on Somalia in terms of development, military, political and economic. The largest of them outside the Turkish territory in Somalia.
The study will also list the most important historical milestones in the Turkish-Somali relations, and the internal and external determinants of the Turkish role in Somalia, in addition to reviewing the various dimensions of the Turkish role in Somalia such as the economic, military, security, political and diplomatic dimensions, and clarifying the nature of the various aids provided by Turkey to Somalia. The study will also identify opportunities And the challenges facing Turkey in Somalia, in addition to identifying the strengths and weaknesses in the relations between the two countries, in addition to forming a future vision for the Turkish-Somali relations.
