Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Metallurgical Engineering Summary: Constant Bottom Hole Pressure (CBHP) is a technique used for applying managed pressure drilling (MPD). Back Pressure (BP) and the continuous circulating systems (CCS) are the methods used to achieve CBHP. The E-CD{u2122} system is a part of ENI's near balance technology which belongs to CCS. The main objectives of E-CD{u2122} system is to reduce formation damage while drilling the depleted zones , support the hole cleaning , and provide a stable hole. It also can improve the casing programs and mud design. The study aims to show the economic benefits of using E-CD{u2122} system by comparing conventional wells to others which use E-CD{u2122} system. The case studies are performed on wells drilled by PETROBEL and ENI in Nile Delta and Mediterranean Sea fields' .It deals with the phase cost, non-productive time, the casing design, mud and the well depths. This study will show the economic benefits of using CBHP that may help the companies make the decision to use CBHP
