Fractional excretion of sodium (FENa) has been used in differentiating renal from prerenal azotemia. However, there are many drugs and medical conditions that affect it as with diuretics use. In contract, the fractional excretion of urea nitrogen (FEun) is primarily dependent on passive forces and is therefore less influenced by diuretic therapy
