Background: Hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) is one of the deleterious adverse effect of advanced liver disease. Objectives: This study is to assess the frequency of HRS among hepatic patients with renal impairment. Methodology: This is a retrospective cohort study at the critical care department Cairo university; one hundred and fifty patients with combined liver and renal disease were studied from January 2013 to June 2016. Results: Frequency of HRS among hepatic patients with renal impairment is 8% (12/150) and the most common liver disease associated with HRS is hepatitis c virus (HCV) infection and the most common cause of renal impairment among hepatic patients is shock. Conclusion HRS is a kind of complication in patients with advanced liver disease
