According to the hyperglycemia and adverse pregnancy outcomes (HAPO study), a large-scale multinational epidemiologic study, the risk of adverse maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomes continuously increases as a function of maternal glycemia at 24-28 weeks of gestation
