Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Architectural Engineering
It is noticed that the practice of Cost Estimating for Construction in Egypt encounters some difficulties. The problem is that, the applications of the Building Economics (BE) - and thus the design decisions {u2013} always rely on a certain Cost Estimating Technique (CET). Applying the best techniques for Cost Estimating is arguably essential to achieve the best BE added value. Many variables initiate a big series of CETs. The research aims to define the main variables that cause this diversity. In addition, the research aims to help Architects to select the appropriate CET, and to highlight the potential imbalanced procedures which threat the accuracy of CETs and consequently threat the trust of the BE outcomes and the design decisions
