Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as on of the most alarming pathogens for health care institutions worldwide. Its clinical significance, especially over the last two decades has escalated as this organism shows a formidable capacity to develop antimicrobial resistance. It is considered the paradigm of multidrug-resistant or pandrug-resistant bacterium that threatens the current antibiotic era. A. baumannii is capable of causing a wide range of infections including central nervous system, skin, soft tissue, and bone, however, hospital-acquired pneumonia remains the most common infection caused by this organism
