Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Institute of African Research and Studies - Department of Natural Resources
The present thesis work deals with the evaluation of some trace and rare elements concentrated in the soil by using the natural plants as indicators. Gebel Qattar area (the study area) is located in the North Eastern Desert, North West of Hurgada city, Egypt. It is bounded between Longitudes 33{u00B0} 14 11 and 33{u00B0} 20 16 E and Latitudes 27{u00B0} 04 00 and 27{u00B0} 08 30 N G. Qattar extends from east to west by a length of about 15 km. The area chosen for this study covers part of G. Qattar, with rectangular shape and covers about 70 km². All samples of the present study were taken from the sites of G. qattar (I, II and V) and Wadi Elabde. These samples are plant and soil samples. The sites of qattar (I, II and V) are characterized by a high proportion of radioactivity
