Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Nursing Services Administration Summary: Back ground: Emotional intelligence is the capacity of individuals to recognize their own feelings and those of others, for motivating themselves, and for managing emotions well in themselves and in their relationships. Organizational citizenship behaviors are including some behaviors which are not imposed or stated in the job description of an employee. This study aimed to assess the first line nurse managers, emotional intelligence and its relation to organizational citizenship behaviors as perceived by staff nurses. A descriptive correlational design was utilized in conducting the study. This study was conducted at an oncology hospital Cairo governorate. Convenience sample of 100 male and female nurses who met the inclusion criteria. Three tools were utilized, demographic data sheet, self -Administered emotional intelligence questionnaire Contain sheet measure the organizational citizenship behaviors as perceived by staff nurses. The finding revealed that there was significant correlation between emotional intelligence and general organizational citizenship behavior. The study recommended that the hospital should plan and implement educational sessions for the nurses and head nurse to update the knowledge, skills and performance and providing guidance, raising nurses' awareness regarding importance of demonstrating organizational citizenship behaviors
