Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Institute of African Research and Studies - Department of Natural Resources Summary: The water is the most important factors; it is a limiting factor for agricultural production. Egypt was one of the countries located at arid and semi-arid regions so we were searched for another sources for irrigation water. Drainage water is important water resources follow the Nile water especially in governorates of Delta from quantitative and quality that can be used in agriculture, most of this water may be exposed to water mixing with other resources that Reduce the quality and increased of its effects on both the soil and plant where, as sewage water and industrial water at different mixed ratios that reached into drainage water direct and indirect. So, it is necessary to make studies and analysis on this water to determine the level of water quality, evaluation of agricultural and environmentally to give recommendations to determine how we can use this irrigation water in agriculture.This study was carried at Minufiya Governorate, Egypt to evaluate the water in the open agricultural drains as irrigation water resources and their use effect on origin system of the studied Areas i.e., soil and plants. Some soil chemical properties: i.e., pH, EC, OM and others and also its content of total and available heavy metals as affected by irrigation using the studied water for irrigation were studied. In addition, the content of heavy metals in the plants cultivated in the studied areas was determined
