Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Analytical Chemistry
In this work, the construction and performance characteristic of sensitive in situ carbon paste (ICPEs) and screen-printed electrodes (ISPEs) were investigated for the determination of cinchocaine hydrochloride [Cin.HCl] drug in pure form and pharmaceutical preparations. These electrodes were modified with ion pairing agents such as sodium tetraphenyborate (Na-TPB), phosphomolybdic acid (PMA), ammonium reineckate (RN) and phosphotungstic acid (PTA) as an electroactive material and plasticized with tricresylphosphate (TCP). The electrodes were characterized and investigated with respect to the experimental parameters affecting their performance including amount of electroactive material, temperature, pH, response time, effect of plasticizer type and interference. The electrodes showed good selectivity to Cin.HCl with respect to the interfering ions, inorganic cations and other pharmaceutical excipients. Determinations of Cin.HCl in pure and pharmaceutical form were performed using calibration and standard addition methods. Validation parameters such as accuracy, precision, linearity, specificity, limit of detection and limit of quantification were applied. The obtained results were in good agreement with those obtained by the official method
