Dissertation note: Thesis (M.A.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Arts - Department of English Summary: This thesis aims to investigate the relationship between excessive field independence (FI) of junior students in the Department of English Language and Literature at Cairo University and their reading comprehension of expository texts. This was done through the statistical analysis of the data collected by means of different types of tasks. Data for the study were collected from 37 Egyptian students; twenty four of them came from Arabic medium high schools and the other 13 students attended English medium schools
