Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Orthodontics Summary: Background and Rationale Attractive facial esthetics is a major treatment goal of orthodontic. For facial esthetics evaluation several factors should be considered. According to the orthodontic literature lip position is considered as one of the important factor affect the facial esthetics.Two dimensional techniques have been used to evaluate facial attractiveness such as silhouettes and computer modified digital images.These techniques have limitation of represent three dimensional objects in two dimensions.Thus, three dimensional images are more realistic than two dimensional images and increasing popularity nowadays in the perception of facial attractiveness.Stereophotogrametry used is safe precise and accurate to use in assessment of facial attractiveness than other methods.Variability in perception of facial attractiveness exists between different raters population groups with controversy regarding the impact of age, gender, profession and ethnicity.To date, no study evaluating the perception of facial attractiveness by Egyptian population is available. Animated lower facial third with changes in anterio-posterior lip position is planned to assess its influence on facial attractiveness.The Photogrammetry technique is used, being reproducible, accurate and noninvasive three-dimension method. Aim of the Study The aim of this study is to evaluate laypersons{u2019}, dentists{u2019}, and orthodontists{u2019} perception of varying degrees of animated anterio-posterior positions of upper and lower lips in a three dimensional model of balanced facial proportions cases
