Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Radio-diagnosis Summary: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide, accounting for up to 25% of all cancers diagnosed in women. It is also the main cause of cancer-related deaths among women. In contrast to the decreasing trends observed in most countries, breast cancer mortality rates increased in ten countries including Egypt, reflecting increasing incidence trends and in some cases, limited access to treatment. The most important risk factors of breast cancer are genetic predisposition, low parity, exposure to estrogens whether endogenous or exogenous, ionizing radiation, and increased breast density. Also the Western-style diet, obesity and the consumption of alcohol contribute to the rising incidence of breast cancer
