Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of wearing a mouthguard on strength and athletic performance after performing Balance test , Ergo-spirometry test , Pinch Grip test and Isokinetic test of Elbow.10 mouth guards were delivered to ten volunteer male boxers (16 to 18 years old) who were found eligible to participate in the study. Custom made mouth guards had been delivered to each athlete. Each athlete was subjected to the previous tests for tow times , one was performed without mouth guard wearing and the other was performed with MG wearing. After the athletes performed Balance test on the balance system , there was no statistically significant difference between mean Overall Stability Index of two groups( with and without mouth guard ), there was no statistically significant difference between A/P Stability Index of the two groups (with and without mouth guard ), There was no statistically significant difference between mean M/L Stability Index of two groups( with and without mouth guard ) Additionally, there was no statistically significant difference between Mean deflection of the two groups (with and without mouth guard ) there was no statistically significant difference between mean A/P mean deflection of two groups( with and without mouth guard) Additionally, there was no statistically significant difference between M/L mean deflection of the two groups (with and without mouth guard )
