Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Agriculture - Department Of Ornamental Horticulture Summary: This study was carried out at the Experimental Nursery of the Ornamental Horticulture Department , Faculty of Agriculture , Cairo University , Giza , during the two successive seasons of 2000 / 2001 and 2001 / 2002 , with the aim of investigating the effect of different combinations of manual pinching and benzylaminopurine (benzyladenine , BA) treatments on growth , flowering and chemical composition of Calendula officinalis Land Gaillardia pulchella FougplantsThe manual pinching treatments included : un - pinched (control) plants , pinching once (after 30 days from planting) , or pinching twice (after 30 and 60 days from planting) The BA treatments included foliar spray applications (at concentrations of 0 , 50 , 100 or 150 ppm) 3 times during each growing season at 15 - day intervals , starting 30 days after planting
