Improved prognostication would enable the patients and their carers to be better prepared for their impending death and allow clinicians to make better informed decisions about place of care. The aim of this prospective observational cohort study is to validate the palliative prognostic index (PPI) in a population of terminally ill cancer patients referred to the palliative care unit of Kasr Alaini center of clinical oncology and nuclear Medicine over three months period, in order to determine its applicability in a different setting to that in which it was originally developed
