Objectives & aim of work: is to detect the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis of chest diseases in the pediatric population. Methods:40 patients of pediatric age group were included in the current study, referred to radiology department at Abu el-reesh hospital,26 of them are males, 14 are females and their ages ranged from 1 month to 15 years old. 30 of them were diagnosed clinically as pneumonia.10 patients were suffering from extra pulmonary chest diseases (Mediastinal, diaphragmatic and chest wall diseases) over a period of 3 months starting from September 2018 to November 2018.All of the patients were subjected to transthoracic ultrasound first Then the requested CT chest was done for all 30 children diagnosed clinically as pneumonia and 6 out of 10 children with extra pulmonary chest diseases and MRI chest was done for one patient then their results were correlated to that of the ultrasound.Results:Ultrasound was able to detect efficiently different pulmonary pathological conditions with sensitivity in diagnosis of consolidation, atelectasis, pleural collectionand hydropneumothorax of 90.91%,100% ,100% and 50% respectively and specificity of 100%as well as extra pulmonary lesions of the chest involving chest wall, mediastinum and diaphragm as Compared to CT
