Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Botany - Microbiology Summary: In this study it is attempted to investigate the antagonistic mechanisms of Bacillus subtilis against Fusarium oxysporum, which is the cause of cucumber wilt disease. The fungal organism was isolated from the infected rhizosphere of cultivated area with cucumber plants. Pot experiments were designed, firstly by seeds treatment, spraying and irrigated with crude extract and culture of Bacillus subtilis and biofertilizers. The results revealed that the best treatment was the combination of biofertilizer1 (sting) and the Bacillus subtilis crude extract, which is significantly promoting the growth of cucumber plants and decrease the incidence of disease (83.8%). The antifungal compounds were determined from the crude extract of Bacillus subtilis. The extract was purified by ammonium sulphate and identified using Gas Chromatography Mass spectroscopy (G-C Mass). This compoundwas identified as pseudojervine, rescinnamine, O,N-permethylated-N-acetyllisine and scopoletin
