connrxin (Cx) proteins are the building blocks of gap junctions. Among these, Cx37 and Cx40 have been found to be expressed on vascular system and reported to have a cardioprotective role. Sine genetic makeup is now considered to be one of the risk factors contributing to the incidence of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), it became important to study the effect of polymorphisms on cardiprotecitve genes.
