Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Computers and Information - Department of Computer Science Summary: The exponentially growing data size, and the wide - spread adoption of services computing and Web 2.0 applications, among other factors, formed the primary motivation behind moving the world towards cloud computing. Cloud computing is the provisioning of computation, software, data access, and storage as services, which can be accessed via internet from anywhere as if they were installed locally on users{u2019} computers. There are many benefits which have made cloud computing the most sophisticated on-demand computing services. Sharing computing resources, such as CPU, application platforms, and services, is considered one of key benefits of cloud computing. These resources have to be described, provisioned, and billed in a fully automatic way. So, managing these resources is a vital operation for cloud providers and users. Therefore, resource monitoring is the first step in the management operation which includes four steps; monitoring, analysis, scheduling, and execution
