Betamethasone sodium phosphate is a potent glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory activity and can be used in treatment of macular edema. However it is difficult to deliver effective doses of the drug to the posterior segment of the eye. in the present study, mucoadhesive chitosan-sodium alginate nanoparticles were investigated as new vehicle for the prolonged topical ophrhalmic delivery of betamethasone sodium phosphate
