Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Operative Dentistry Summary: Objective: The objective of this study to evaluate the effect of preheating of low shrinking resin composite on its diametral compression strength for tension and its fracture toughness. Methods: Two resin composite restorative materials were used in this study, nanofilled methacrylate-based resin composite [Filtek{u2122} Z350 XT] and low shrinking silorane-based resin composite [Filtek{u2122} P90]. The Calset preheating device was used to preheat the tested resin composite restorative materials to the temperatures 54{u00B0}C or 68{u00B0}C. A total of one hundred twenty resin composite specimens were prepared, 60 specimens for each testing procedure [diametral compression test for tension (D) and fracture toughness test (F)]. In each test, specimens were divided into two equal groups (n=30) according to the type of resin composite used either Filtek{u2122} Z350 XT or Filtek{u2122} P90
