Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Summary: This thesis is concerned with the development of simple and accurate methods for the determination of some antiepileptic drugs. UPLC/MS/MS method was proposed for the simultaneous determination of diazepam, midazolam, phenytoin and phenobarbital in plasma. HPLC-UV method was developed for the determination of rufinamide in presence of its main metabolite in plasma. In addition, an HPLC method was proposed for the simultaneous determination of five antiepileptic drugs used in the treatment of lennox-gastaut syndrome. Lacosamide was estimated in its pharmaceutical preparation via HPLC method in presence of its possible degradation products which were formed during the forced degradation study. Also, an HPLC, First derivative and first derivative ratio methods were proposed for the determination of rufinamide in presence of its major degradation product which was prepared in this thesis. Finally, two spectrofluorimetric methods were proposed for the determination of rufinamide and lacosamide in their dosage forms based on the fluorescence quenching of thioglycolic acid-capped CdS quantum dots. The proposed methods were validated and statistically compared with reference methods where no significant difference was found
