A market research questionnaire was designed, distributed to different renewable energy stakeholders. Evaluation of the questionnaire showed a major concern on the financial risks for financing renewable energy projects and insufficiency of incentive schemes in view of the current economic situation in Egypt. The potential of R.E sources including solar and wind are also surveyed with emphasis on future implementation potential and different factors considered for creation of a suitable successful economic, financial, legislative investment environment at different promising locations and financial plan was proposed. The investment environment is not attractive and it could take 3 years due to the Egyptian currency devaluation in addition to the foreign currency effect on all kind of costs operational or capital for both technologies. After evaluating different factors affecting all market players it was found that the current risks will slow down the renewable energy market development where the Egyptian financial institutions will not be able to credit facilities due to the Egyptian economic instability. Finally a simple socio economics approach was used to show the economic cost and benefit of R.E in Egypt
