Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) -Cairo University, 2024. Summary: An applicable liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method is developed to enable the efficient residue detection of fifteen acidic pesticides in water (drinking, ground, irrigating, and agricultural drainage water) and ten acidic pesticides in soil. The extraction and sample concentration were accomplished using the solid-phase extraction (SPE) technique in water, and using QuEChERS method in soil. The pesticides were determined using the negative ESI-LC-MS/MS technique. The developed methods were fully validated according to the EU validation guidelines. The accuracy and precision calculations were evaluated by sample fortifications at concentrations of 0.1, 0.5, 1.0 µg/L in water, and at concentrations of 0.01,0.5, 0.1 µg/ml in soil. Acceptable recoveries and precisions were obtained of 70–120% and below 20%, respectively. The methods showed good linearity ( from 0.995 to 0.999). The developed method quantitation limits were 0.1 µg/L for most of the studied pesticides in water and 0.01 µg/ml for all studied pesticides in soil. Furthermore, a one-year survey was conducted by collecting 108 water samples from different water sources in Egypt and 24 soil samples during the period between June 2020 and May 2021. The obtained results showed the absence of residues for most of the acidic pesticides in the collected water and soil samples, except for bentazone which was present in 33% of the collected water samples with a concentration range of 0.1 to 0.29 µg/L, and Bromoxynil which was present in one collected soil sample from Behera at concentration 0.3 µg/mlSummary:
