The first goal of this thesis is illustrating the main different methods to estimate the state of charge of batteries such as open circuit voltage method EMF method specific gravity method coulomb counting method DC internal resistance method and internal impedance method . The second goal is using the Adaptive Neuro- Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) technique to design an adaptive state of charge estimator for rechargeable batteries
