This research demonstrates the efficiency of the use of AEM in progressive collapse analysis of reinforced concrete structures by comparison to results of published experimental tests. A case study based on a typical seven-story reinforced concrete frame commercial building is used to demonstrate the different sources of redundancy such as slabs, infill walls, and vierendeel action which can help reinforced concrete structures resist progressive collapse. According to UFC code, primary one of the vertical structural element is removed and structure behavior is investigated. The investigated cases includes the removal of an internal column near the middle, an external edge column near the middle of the short side, an external edge column near the middle of the long side and a corner column. For each case, the removal was performed four times, from the ground, the fourth floor, the sixth floor and the last floor (seventh floor). Results of the analysis where used to reach useful recommendations regarding the UFC code method and the analysis techniques.
