Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Geology Summary: The present study deals mainly with the geology of the basement rock units cropping out nearby the gold occurrences between latitudes 26{u00BA} 00` 00" and 26{u00BA} 05` 00" N and longitudes 34{u00BA} 07` 00" and 34{u00BA} 15` 00" E. This thesis aims to construct a geological map of the study area on the basis of plate tectonic theory with especial emphasis on the gold occurrences and to decipher the main structural and geological controls of the mineralized occurrences. Comprehensive field, petrographical, opaque mineralogical and geochemical studies were carried out. The genesis of the gold occurrences in the study area was discussed in the scope of the obtained data
