Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Dental Materials Summary: Aim: This study aimed at evaluating the antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans and measuring the solubility percentage of nano-silver incorporated zinc phosphate cement compared to conventional zinc phosphate cement. Materials and Methods: A total number of 28 specimens were prepared (14 specimens for the antibacterial activity test and 14 specimens for the solubility percentage test) For each test, half of the specimens were prepared from nano-silver incorporated zinc phosphate cement (Test group) by the addition of (0.05 ml) of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) suspension to the conventional zinc phosphate cement and the other half were prepared from the conventional zinc phosphate cement (Control group) when used in a luting consistency. The Agar diffusion method was used to evaluate the antibacterial activity of nano-silver incorporated zinc phosphate cement against Streptococcus Mutans. While, the solubility percentage (%) test was carried out according to ANSI/ADA no. 96. Data were statistically analyzed by Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Shapiro-Wilk and Independent sample t-test.The significance level was set at P {u2264} 0.05. Results: The results revealed that the addition of nano-silver suspension to the conventional zinc phosphate cement showed significant increase in the antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans and the solubility percentage
