Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - German University - Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research - Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Summary: Many Cyanopyridines and Cyanopyiridones were reported to have cardiotonic and anticancer properties . The first activity is mediated through the inhibition of PDEIII leading to elevation of secondary messengers namely cAMP and cGMP , the latter activity were shown to be due to the inhibitory action on targets that are over - expressed in cancerous cells such as PIM1 Kinase and the anti - apoptotic protein ; Survivin leading to growth inhibition of cancer cells
