Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Geophysics
The incorporation of well log data and seismic data has been a reliable objective of geoscientists. Rock and fluid extrapolation away from well control needs understanding of how rock's mass and seismic properties are related to each other. Rock physics modeling, Seismic interpretation, Seismic Inversion, and Multi-attribute analysis have been applied in an integrated approach in order to determine the characteristics of a Pliocene gas reservoir, located offshore, East Nile Delta, Egypt. Successfully the well information was extended throughout the whole seismic volume and fill gaps in our knowledge of formation properties between wells, also aided in studying the connectivity of the reservoir and delineate the sweet spots. Analyzing and correlating AVO response with physical rock properties have successfully confirmed the existence of Class III gas. Information obtained from the cross plot analysis of elastic rock properties was used to map the reservoir. All the seismic attributes showed consistency including Seismic Coherency, Enhanced Restricted Gradient And AVO Attributes, which could delineate the two listric growth faults bounding the reservoir, define the geometry of the sand bars and locate fluid contacts. Extended Elastic Impedance and Chi angle scan have been conducted to determine the optimum fluid and lithology angles
