Background : Seizure activity itself can induce an inflammatory response by activation of microglia and release of cytokines . This could activate inflammatory pathways leading to an acute BBB dysfunction and neuronal hyper excitability interfering with the seizure threshold . We analyzed cytokines levels in patients with idiopathic generalized tonic-clonic epilepsy and correlated it with various parameters
