Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electronics and Communications Summary: As the world grows in technology, demand of higher data rates increases. LTE and LTE-Advanced system offer high data rates with low latencies. Some technologies used in LTE-Advanced system depend on the accuracy of noise estimation in PUSCH and PUCCH uplink channels. Noise estimation performance is affecting multiple algorithms in the uplink decoding process in PUSCH and PUCCH channels.The work and study done in this thesis targets to enhance noise estimation for uplink channels in LTE-Advanced that will help to decrease the block error rate for PUSCH and decrease the miss detection and false alarm probabilities for PUCCH; and hence allows for more enhancements and developments in the data rates.The proposed noise estimation algorithms for PUSCH and PUCCH channels offered better performance than the previous algorithms proposed in various research papers used in LTE
