Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated from height and weight in the medical record. On admission complete clinical examination was done including general examination (vitals as blood pressure, pulse, temperature height and weight), abdominal examination (scars of previous surgeries, fundal level and examination of hernial orifices) and vaginal examination (for cervical changes ,evidence of rupture of membranes and evidence of vaginal infection). Then the operative details were recorded as the proper sterilization, skin incision type, sharp or blunt dissection, the estimated blood loss, peritoneal closure or not, type of stitches used in skin closure and the overall operative time. Then these patients were followed the six weeks postpartum period to detect the incidence of post Cesarean section wound infection (purulent wound discharge, wound gapping and for the presence of triad of endometritis (fever 38oC and more, uterine tenderness and offensive vaginal discharge). Results: Among the studied group according to infection evidence postpartum there were 15 (8.2%) with fever, 2 (1.1%) with maternal tachycardia and 17 (9.2%) with offensive vaginal discharge, there were 20 (10.9%) with seroma, 16 (8.7%) with wound infection so the overall number of infected cases were 29 with prevalence (15.8%)
